Gamers who download one of the free-to-play games will also download the new Riot Client, which provides direct access to those titles and began rolling out worldwide this month. Existing players of League of Legends or other Riot Games titles will be able to sign into existing accounts and continue to use their existing friends lists.

To celebrate this new partnership between Riot Games and Epic Games, one of League of Legends’ most popular characters Jinx is making her way into Fortnite. The grinning, blue-haired criminal will be appearing in the battle royale game as a playable character, which is reportedly the first time a League of Legends Champion will show up outside a Riot Games title. Jinx’s larger-than-life attitude, bright colors, and affinity for loud music and oversized weapons may help her fit right into the equally bright and colorful world of Fortnite. A Twitter post from the official Fortnite account is already hyping up her appearance.
Jinx arrives in Fortnite later today at 8:00 PM ET as part of Riot Games’ month-long RiotX Arcane event. She’ll be bringing an outfit, pickaxe, spray, back bling, lobby track, and two loading screens with her, all of which will hopefully help her establish a League of Legends presence in Fortnite. With a bit of luck, other iconic League of Legends Champions will follow her into this new arena. Vi, Jinx’s sister who stars alongside her in the upcoming Netflix animated series Arcane, might be a solid pick for the second League of Legends Champion to appear in Fortnite.
“Riot Games is one of the world’s best developers and creators of groundbreaking entertainment franchises,” said Steve Allison, Vice President and General Manager of the Epic Games Store. “We’re excited they’ve chosen to partner with us to bring their titles to millions of new players through the Epic Games Store.”
As of writing, it appears that many fans of Fortnite and League of Legends alike are looking forward to this collaboration, although others have complaints. One user in particular expressed concerns that Fortnite players might assume Jinx is a Fortnite-original character rather than a crossover character. Considering that League of Legends and associated games have more active players than Steam, period, this argument may seem less than convincing. Several other fans immediately began posting video edits of Jinx showing off her expressive face and array of weaponry.
League of Legends is available to play for free on PC.
