Man City are five points away, but Man United saw their chance to truly enter the race go begging. The Gunners also have a game in hand on all three teams directly below them, which provides a little extra breathing room.
Newcastle are a long win streak away from being in the hunt as well after picking up a point at Crystal Palace. Even if they fall back of a title charge, the Magpies are in a Champions League place, an impressive feat in and of itself.
The desperation matches at the bottom of the table continue with West Ham picking up a big win against fellow strugglers Everton, while last-place Southampton lost a heartbreaker to Aston Villa. Promoted sides Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest played to a 1-1 draw after a late Forest equalizer.

Premier League title race
With Arsenal beating Manchester United on Sunday, they took another massive step toward their first Premier League title since 2004 and probably eliminated one of the potential challengers.
Man United may have fallen too far back, but Manchester City are still in the hunt, and there’s still a full half-season left to play.

Champions League places & European places
The names that are the biggest surprises in the race for European places are Newcastle (third), Fulham (seventh), Brighton (sixth), and Brentford (eighth), with the Magpies looking like good bets to nip a Champions League berth with only one loss suffered all season.
Manchester United also look like they have what it takes to stay in the top four, as they continue to stay ahead of chasers Tottenham, Liverpool, and Chelsea, all big clubs who are desperate to ensure they don’t miss out on qualifying for the Champions League.
Only the top four make it into the Champions League. Teams that finish fifth through seventh have a shot at Europa League and Conference League berths depending upon who wins the English domestic cup competitions.
Premier League relegation
It’s a real jumble of teams at the bottom of the Premier League with seven teams separated by just three points.
West Ham beat Everton in a big match with relegation implications, and Leicester City picked up a home point against high-flying Brighton, but both are still just one loss away from the bottom places.
Leeds and Wolves were in action on Sunday, with the Lilywhites taking a point off Brentford, while Wolves were put to the sword by white-hot Erling Haaland of Man City, burying their goal differential and seeing them teeter closer to a spot in the relegation zone.
The bottom three teams on May 28, 2023 will be relegated to the second-tier Championship.
